The organization has mobilized a global force of medical professionals who provide free reconstructive surgery to children and young adults with facial deformities – over 150,000 of them to date. In addition, Operation Smile’s volunteer medical professionals travel the globe helping to strengthen health care systems for children and families. The Abbott Fund is a long-term supporter of the organization, having donated nearly $6 million in grants and products – Operation Smile also uses Abbott’s anesthesia product for all of its missions. We support Operation Smile’s Pediatric Advanced Life Support and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support training programs, which are strengthening the expertise of medical professionals in more than 60 countries. To date, Operation Smile has trained nearly 12,000 health care professionals in critical lifesaving techniques. The vital work performed by Operation Smile continues, as more than 200,000 children are born annually with a severe cleft condition, leaving them unable to eat, speak, socialize or smile.
